A dog, a veteran, an angel? You decide.

“You think dogs will not be in heaven? I tell you, they will be there long before any of us.”
 Robert Louis Stevenson

You have heard all the stories, and all dog owners will say it over and over again -- Life isn't the same without a dog.

This is definitely a true statement., and I want to tell you why.

I would like you to meet Rogue. Rogue is a highly energetic 35 pound ball of fire. She is a spunky Australian Cattle-dog who has changed my life for the best.  You see, SANDBOX Girl and I have both been highly motivated, highly driven, independent busy individuals. In fact, we were so busy with our lives, we forgot to take the the time to have children. Granted, major career changes, a deployment to war, graduate and post-graduate school, and spontaneous travel have all made it challenging to find "the right time" to have kids. Thus, without intention, we found ourselves "childless." Yah, it's a weird subject, but it's the truth. It is our truth. Unlike most adults our age, we have our weekends completely free, but we also find ourselves rattling around in an empty home and on Christmas Day, Santa just doesn't leave anything under the tree.

Don't be sad. There is a happy ending to this story. We did find the time to open up our hearts to a furry little creature, straight from Wagoneer, Oklahoma. Rogue was raised to be a "real" cattle dog, like her momma, and her momma before her. However, Rogue doesn't herd cattle. Instead, she herds two adults, lost in time, lost in each other, lost in their wars.

We had a chance encounter with a veteran in Eastern Washington a few years back after SANDBOX Girl had just returned home from Afghanistan. As soon as I met him, I knew he had a kind soul. He was there at the campground where we were staying with his brand new blue heeler puppy. This young man too was fresh from the battlefield. He explained to both of us about his puppy and how much he had help him to be a part of the world again.

You see, I believe now that maybe this was a sign from God, or an angel, in the form of this man and his puppy to guide us so slightly. What we needed was a small reminder. A reminder that life is about love, loving something other than our self. It was shortly after this encounter that we found a little puppy of our own out of Oklahoma.

Rogue has helped both of us heal our broken souls and we are blessed every day to have her in our life. Dogs are very special creatures. I think dogs might be gifts from Heaven, and for sure ....“You think dogs will not be in heaven? I tell you, they will be there long before any of us.” -  RLS

Oh by the way, if you do have a dog, have you thought about a "Julius K-9" Harness? We not only use Julius K-9 harnesses on Rogue, we sell them too! We believe in this product so much that if you think it sucks we will refund your money if you are not happy with the product. Give it a chance!
